Vitamin A Serum
Retinol wrapped so it behaves — an anti-ageing night serum that your skin can actually tolerate.
Step 2 of your night skincare routine. Vitamin C in the morning, vitamin A after dark — they are a pair, not a choice.
Encapsulated retinol that releases gradually rather than all at once. That is the entire point of this product, and it is the difference between a retinol serum you can tolerate and one you abandon in week two. Formulated and made in Australia with native botanicals including Kakadu plum and quandong.

What's doing the work
- Encapsulated retinol — held inside microscopic capsules of carnauba wax, a plant wax from the leaves of a Brazilian palm. The capsules release it gradually.
- Bisabolol — the calming component of chamomile.
- Kakadu plum and quandong — two Australian natives, both antioxidant.
- Ginseng root and apple fruit extract — and squalane, one of the better-tolerated emollients there is.
- Sodium hyaluronate and pro-vitamin B5 — hydration, because retinol is drying and something has to answer for that.
How to use it
- Evening only. Never in the morning — vitamin A degrades in light.
- A pea-sized amount on clean, dry skin, on its own or under your moisturiser. Some people prefer moisturiser first and the serum over the top: slightly less potent, considerably more tolerable.
- Start slowly — two nights a week for a fortnight, then three, then build. Everyone who has a bad time with retinol went too hard in week one.
- Sunscreen the next morning, every morning. Retinol makes skin temporarily more sun-sensitive, and in Australia that is not a footnote.
Before you buy
- Not for use during pregnancy. Retinol products are not recommended for pregnant women. If you are pregnant, trying, or breastfeeding, speak to your doctor or midwife before using any retinol product, including this one. Our Vitamin B Serum is the one to use instead.
- Some redness, flaking or irritation is common in the first weeks. That is the ingredient doing what it does, not a faulty bottle. If it is more than mild, use it less often. If it does not settle, stop.
- If you already use prescription retinoids, exfoliating acids or anything from a dermatologist, ask them before adding this.
What to expect
Retinol is slow and it is not comfortable at first. Published work on it generally looks at twelve weeks and beyond. We wrote a week-by-week account of the first eight weeks so you know what normal looks like.
