Eye Gel
The bit everyone notices first.
After serum, before cream. A grain of rice for both eyes.
A cool, fast-absorbing gel for the thinnest skin on the face — built for hydration and the look of puffiness, and honest about the rest.

What's doing the work
- Caffeine — the mechanism behind that temporarily less-puffy look in the morning.
- Cucumber oil — where the colour and the faint fresh scent come from. Not added fragrance — the oil itself.
- Sea buckthorn oil — an orange berry oil, high in fatty acids. The other half of the natural colour.
- Sodium hyaluronate — hydration, which is most of what makes crepey under-eye skin look smoother.
- Niacinamide and green tea — two of the better-evidenced ingredients in skincare, quietly doing their job.
- Quandong — the desert peach. One more Australian native.
How to use it
One to two grains of rice is genuinely enough. On the ring finger — the weakest finger, so you press rather than drag. Along the orbital bone under the eye and out towards the temple, not on the lid; it spreads inwards on its own. Morning and evening, after serum. Store below 30°C, which in a Queensland bathroom means keep it out of the window.
Before you buy
The skin around the eye is the thinnest on the body. A face cream is not wrong there, it is just heavier than the area needs — a gel absorbs faster and does not migrate into the eye overnight. If your under-eye skin is genuinely dry and crepey rather than puffy, a richer cream at night may suit you better, and we explain the difference in the Journal.
What to expect
Eye products are the most oversold category in skincare. Nothing topical removes a dark circle caused by the shape of your face or by blood vessels under thin skin — that is anatomy, and no gel changes it. What a good one does is hydrate the area so it looks less creased, and reduce the look of puffiness for a few hours. That is worth having. It is not a transformation, and anyone promising you one is selling you something. The long version is in the Journal.
