Overnight Cream

• Rosehip oil — cold-pressed from the seed, and one of the few plant oils with a long, unglamorous track record rather than a marketing moment.
• Sodium hyaluronate — a humectant, which means it holds water rather than adding oil. In a dry room it can pull moisture out of skin if nothing seals it in, which is exactly why it belongs in a cream and not on bare skin. We wrote about that properly here.
• Jojoba and avocado oils — the sealing half of the pair above.
• Green tea — one of the better-evidenced botanical antioxidants.
• Kakadu plum and Davidson plum — two Australian natives, both high in vitamin C and antioxidants.

A small amount, warmed between the fingers, pressed rather than rubbed into face and neck. Avoid the eye area — that is what the Eye Gel is for. Morning and night, after serum. In a humid summer a lighter hand is fine; in July, use more.

This is a moisturiser for normal to dry skin and for anyone whose skin is drying out under an active. If your skin is very oily and you are in the tropics, you may find it more than you need in February — that is a texture preference, not a fault.

A moisturiser's job is to hydrate skin and keep it hydrated. This one does that, and it stops doing it about a week after you stop using it. That is not a flaw, that is what moisturisers are. Anyone selling you a cream that permanently changes your skin is selling you something else. Whether you need a separate day and night cream is a fair question, and the honest answer is usually no.
